STREETS IN MONO
Since I first started to take photographs in the 1970s I have been interested in social documentary photography. A number of names spring to mind - Chris Killip, Chris Steele-Perkins, David Hurn, Homer Sykes and the early work of Martin Parr along with the likes of Robert Frank, Elliott Erwitt, Gary Winogrand and of course Cartier-Bresson.
So, it is hardly surprising that when I decided to concentrate on street photography I responded to these influences and virtually all my street images were monochrome. Indeed, I prided myself in visualising the final monochrome image at the time I pressed the shutter release!
However, a number of years ago I started to tinker with the odd colour image. More recently, it is fair to say that bulk of my street photography output is in colour with maybe only the occasional image converted to monochrome.
This gallery contains a fairly random selection of thirty images from my monochrome street photography days.
