All the images in this collection were made at racecourses in the North of England between Spring and Autumn 2019. My original intention had been to continue this project throughout 2020 and into 2021. However the Covid-19 pandemic intervened and although, on occasions, limited numbers of spectators have been admitted to racecourses since the first National Lockdown in March 2020 it currently seems that it will be a long time before large crowds of spectators return to UK racetracks. Consequently, the project was brought to an unplanned halt and what was to be a longterm series has become an historical record of racegoers in a short period before the pandemic.

The images featured here are part of more than fifty that fill a hardback book entitled "A Day at the Races", published by ADM Publications.
